Miss Universe Philippines 2023 Michelle Marquez Dee Ends Speculation, Reveals Bisexuality

In a recent interview with MEGA magazine, Michelle Marquez Dee, who was crowned Miss Universe Philippines 2023, addressed the viral teenage pictures that sparked curiosity about her sexuality. The beauty pageant winner confirmed that she is bisexual, putting an end to all speculations surrounding her personal life. “I’m attracted to all forms of beauty, all shapes and sizes,” Dee stated.

Dee described her gender identity as an “open secret” and emphasized that she has identified as bisexual for as long as she can remember. The 28-year-old, who will represent the Philippines at the upcoming Miss Universe pageant in El Salvador, shared her journey of self-acceptance, mentioning that she never faced struggles accepting her identity due to receiving positive feedback for being herself. She highlighted her straightforward approach when entering relationships, expressing that she discloses her sexuality early on, allowing the other person to decide if they want to pursue a romantic connection.

While Dee’s parents provided her with the freedom to express herself, she acknowledged the challenge of conforming to societal standards as a public figure. Despite feeling a responsibility to uphold her parents’ reputation, she ultimately overcame these pressures during her high school years.

Dee clarified that her gender identity is personal and that she chose not to come out during the pageant, as it was not the right time. Emphasizing that she has more to offer the world than how she identifies herself, she stressed her focus on advocating for autism awareness, the cause she is fighting for in the competition.

However, she now believes that it is the right time to share her story, as the leaked photos were maliciously spread to undermine her worthiness of the crown. Dee aims to reclaim her narrative and turn it into an empowering story. She encouraged others not to let their past define them and to take control of their own lives and narratives, promoting self-worth, confidence, and respect for others.

Dee’s coming out as bisexual is another step in her journey of inspiring others and giving a voice to those who feel their stories have been taken away. She mentioned her longstanding support for the LGBTQIA+ community, attending pride marches and having close friends within the community. Dee expressed her desire to make the world a better place by spreading love and light, urging everyone to consciously strive for a more inclusive and accepting society.
